Adriana Galijasevic

Denim & Sustainability Expert

Adriana has been with G-Star since 2011 and has worked in the design, denim fabric & finishing departments. Her current role as Denim & Sustainability Expert is of an interdepartmental nature. She works with design, fabric and wash development, merchandising and finally, with the sustainability team to implement sustainable material targets and circular economy innovations within G-Star collections. To accomplish this, Adriana focuses on driving denim sustainability research, sustainable product innovation as well as internal and external education.

Adriana graduated from Drexel University in 2002 with a major in Fashion Design and a minor in Art History. In 2007, she moved from NYC to Amsterdam to further specialize in 17th century Dutch Art at the University of Amsterdam. Prior to G-Star, she worked as a Head Denim Designer in NYC for celebrity brands, Tina & Beyonce Knowles’ House of Dereon, Eve Jihan Jeffers’ Fetish, and Jay-Z’s Rocawear. Her love for denim prompted her to start up a Denim Institute in 2008. In collaboration with other denim enthusiasts and educational organizations, the institute’s mission was to research the past, confront the present, and open doors to future innovations in sustainable denim design and production. Adriana also serves on the House of Denim International Advisory Board and on the Advisory Board for ArtEZ Fashion Professorship.

WEN, CHEN

The Founder, Chenwenstudio

He is the Top Chinese Fashion Design Award-Golden Top Award Winner, the Vice Chairman of China Fashion Association, the Artistic Director, Eurasian(French) Association for Cultural and Arts Exchanges, a Professor of Shanghai International College of Fashion and Innovation, Donghua University and the founder of the Chenwenstudio, the global denim original design collection platform.

Wen, Chen was a design director /brand consultant for more than 20 well-known Chinese and foreign brands. He was a judge for several national professional competitions and has participated many times in China International Fashion Week released the original brand chenwenstudio of fashion trends. His design style is unique in the spirit of denim and the modern fashion elements. He has written a number of professional clothing and apparel books and textbooks.

He is also an artist that combines art and fashion, advocating the concepts of art and creativity, fashion and technology; integrating the beauty of painting art into the traditional denim design, giving passionate and energetic to his denim masterpieces, and this cross-border creative design makes the brand more original and unique.

Davide Righi

General Manager Garmon Chemicals China, Kemin Group

Davide has been appointed General Manager of Garmon Chemicals China since 2015. Thru the years he managed the whole business with particular focus on quality and upscale services to clients.

Davide works on multiple levels to create a network and workflow, providing development services, latest technology and sustainable solutions to the denim industry players.

He developed specific projects in Chinese Universities to support students knowledge in denim, conscious practices and utilization of recent innovations.

Davide studied History in Bologna University before moving to China 10 years ago, with experience into management of sustainable businesses. He feels committed to bring innovations and technology at all levels in the denim industry to make possible a better jean to wear, a better company to work, a better world to live.

Karin Malmstrom

Director, Cotton USA

Karin Malmstrom joined Cotton Council International (CCI) as its Director for China and Hong Kong in April 2006, and in January, 2015 added Northeast Asia to her responsibilities. She heads up CCI’s trade servicing programs, supply chain marketing activities, consumer promotions and government affairs in the region, as well as manages CCI’s offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Osaka, Seoul and Taipei.

Karin, an accomplished Sinologist with over 30 years of China-related experience joined CCI from Malmstrom Associates Orient, a business and marketing and communication consultancy. Fluent and literate in Mandarin Chinese, Karin has worked in a variety of fields in China including the auto, steel and travel industries, metals and minerals trading, technology transfers, education, journalism and communications. Immediately prior to establishing Malmstrom Associates Orient, she was Director of Corporate Communications for DaimlerChrysler China, based in Beijing.

Karin graduated cum laude in Asian Studies and Geography from Middlebury College, USA. She continued in executive education at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) and at St. Gallens Management Center, both located in Switzerland.

Tracey Panek

Historian, Levi Strauss & Co.

Tracey Panek is the Historian for Levi Strauss & Co. She manages the day-to-day workings of the Levi Strauss & Co. Archives as a key corporate asset, answering historical questions, assisting designers, brand managers, executives and other employees whose work requires historical materials in the Archives. She is a regular contributor to Unzipped, the company’s blog, writing about company history, vintage Levi’s® garments, and behind the scenes and Archives highlights. Tracey is the media spokesperson for Levi Strauss & Co. heritage.

Prior to joining LS&Co., Tracey spent 14 years as Historian and Archivist at AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah where she managed a corporate history program for the 100+ year old company. She began her corporate history career at AirTouch Communications—today Verizon and Vodafone—a San Francisco based company that launched cellular service at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.
