Over the Midnight of Doomsday Clock

Jasmine Leung

The design concept behind this denim look extends from the Redress Design Award collection titled 'Over the Midnight of Doomsday Clock.' The upcoming capsule collection will feature a more commercial and casual style. This denim look includes an upcycled and deconstructed denim jacket, denim tank top, and jeans. The story behind the theme envisions the Earth being surrounded by a tsunami of trash during doomsday. Over time, this waste transforms into modern fossils and sedimentary rock. The rubbish is indecomposable despite thousands of years passing. Hence, the aim is to develop a style for post-apocalyptic survivors. The ideas of reconstructing secondhand clothes are inspired by the concept of the wave of waste. During doomsday, people will use the waste around them to create their fashion items. By keeping the traces of secondhand clothing in the new designs, it presents the faults in cracks, tears, and beauty of imperfections. Upcycling and reconstructing design techniques are primarily used to align with the sustainability objective.
